A couple of DVD-video recommends --Fat, Sick and Near Death --is inspiring with
a gentleman who goes on a juice diet and loses weight, lowers his blood lipids, blood
pressure and thereby avoids an early death. In this presentation Joe then goes on the
road cross-country to make converts and save the lives of others. I have never identified
with 'the biggest losers' but found myself falling in love with Phil who is an Iowa truck-driver
weighing over 400 pounds who is saved by Joe and ultimately saved by himself when he
decides to go on the juice diet, which of course is foods from the plant world. Phil next
reaches out to others who are obese, including his own brother.
The other flick (both are available on Netflix) is Forks Over Knives which in contrast
is more fact-based with statistics, graphs and tables. But its goal is the same --to expose
the meat and dairy industries greed in selling their products. And its back to the sun --
meaning --eat foods that come from sources closer to the sun --those would be plants.
